A three year research and creative project by artists from the Czech Republic, France and Ghana, GENIUS RISES places the European Baroque and traditional Ghanaian art on the same stage. Through simple elements and collective and individual searching, this fusion of music, dance, theatre, history and sociology presents the public with something both entirely new and emerging from historical roots.

25th – 31st March 2019 Chateau Žďár nad Sázavou
The baroque castle located in Žďár nad Sázavou and in Czech republic under leading of SE.S.TA offers also this year a one week long interdisciplinary residency for artists, scientist, architects, writers, philosophers, thinkers… The residency provides the time and space for joint research in dialogue by sharing problems, questions, confronting other ways of thinking and searching for new modes of work’s development. This year we search for and research in the Obscurity.

International choreographic residencies under the guidance of experimented and world-renowned coaches Kathy Casey (CA) and Valentina Desideri (IT/NL). We are currently accepting applications for the twelfth year.
11. 7.–14. 7. 2019 Žďár nad Sázavou
Theoretical and practical seminar GO TO EUROPE! will familiarise you with a variety of European dance festivals and platforms and offer assistance with a range of skills such as preparing a quality presentation of a performance, working with social networks and presenting your work to directors of festivals and institutions in different contexts. Led by Mara Serina from Italy, the seminar will meet for a total of 20 hours over four days. You can register up to 10th of July.

Summer morning meetings with coaches of Coaching Residencies for Choreographers and other guests are open to all dance enthusiasts. Come to stretch, dance and try different techniques. Another trainer leads the class every day so you can try several styles during the one week. Book your place online.

The Feldenkrais method is a globally recognized holistic approach that uses movement as a source of learning. The Feldenkrais method is designed for everyone regardless of age and physical condition, who wants to discover new qualities in motion and in life. The lesson will be led by Marie Kinsky, who has been using the method for many years. Lessons are open to both professional dancers and the general public.

Choreographical Forum is a SE.S.TA concept where we can share our knowledge, experiences and points of view. In addition, this year we open 8 paid places, which are dedicated to professionals and include a four-day festival pass at ČTP.

School is dancing is the pilot project of SE.S.TA focusing on development of artistic creativity in schools. The unique methodology uses "moving body" as a tool of learning and education. Choreographic studio is the Artistic Residency Program which invites all artists working within the field of dance and performing arts in the baroque Castle in Žďár nad Sázavou and offers a place to develop their ongoing projects. At the end of each Choreographic studio residency artists present their work in progress to the local public in dialogue with invited artists, theoreticians and friends. These extraordinary events are established thanks to the cooperation between the Centre for choreographic development Se.s.ta, Residency program of the international centre for art Meetfactory in Prague, the Castle and the cultural hub - club Batyskaf in Žďár nad Sázavou.

The statue of Karel Hynek Mácha in Petřín Park becomes a performer in this site-specific dance performance. But don’t expect any romantic cliches. Instead, we encounter Mácha as a symbol of rebellion against the conventional vision of the romantic poet.

A group of dance professionals from the Czech Republic and from abroad, as well as dance enthusiasts from the ranks of the audience at the forum, analyse choreographic topics related to the presented performances.

The Round Table: Choreographing now invites international guests - choreographers, dancers, artists, and theoreticians to two lectures about reflecting of the conditions of contemporary choreography on the domestic and international scene. The lectures will be combined with lead discussions in interaction with invited dance and art professionals and the general public.
