This Artist in residency program opens the premises of the Žďár nad Sázavou castle complex to artists. The one-of-kind complex of the former cloister, castle and surrounding grounds combines landscape and built environment in a unique Baroque whole. As a result, the com-plex combines excellent facilities for research and creation with the genus loci of an excep-tional place whose history dates back to the 13th century. SE.S.TA offers a space for both individual and group projects in the site-specific surrounds of the baroque Castle in Žďár nad Sázavou, which is equipped with quality facilities to support re-search, the creation and the rehearsal of performance work.

Our summer camp is for all kids interested in a creative process, for those with some experience as well as for the ones with no experience at all. Those who want to follow the path of new adventure. Each of them can choose and apply for a field of art, THEATRE, DANCE or CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS, he or she wants to reveal and be inspired with this year. All 3 groups will meet into each other, inspire, coplement, share creative moments and happiness from the playfull creation itself. Improvisation is the fundametal theme for all of us.

The pilot project of SE.S.TA is focusing on development of artistic creativity in School is dancing. The unique methodology uses "moving body" as a tool of learning and education. In cooperation with the teacher and a dance instructor the educational topics are connected with movement creativity. Children get to know mathematics, physics or grammar through movement and their own creativity and instead of pure memorizing they use a different level of acquiring the topics, they have opportunity to connect it with experience and find their own way to what they are being taught at school.

Jordi examines the relationships between the body and the objects, be it a beam, a stone, a stepladder or a tire. He is interested in the space in which dance interacts with arts and in which simple objects can fit on the stage with a sophisticated architecture in which the objects can even be played. Jordi uses balance, gravity, contradictory forces and a dynamic relationship of diverse materials. His performances T, Ciel, 22 Cailloux, Abscisse, or Stance was performed around the world.

Niels, Billy and the Corridor – the trio got together in June 2016 at the Žďár Castle. They became friends through the FILLIMIT choreographic platform. They made a promise to remember each other just the way they were when they met, they agreed to remain the same. What do you see after a year? Billy and Niels are taller, or could it be that the corridor ceiling has dropped down? The corridor is longer, or Billy and Niels may be older and can’t run so far. The corridor got darker and more blurred, or they only remember it lighter and brighter. Or perhaps the castle corridor appears to be more patient than a man… Created and performed by: Niels Weijer and Billy Mullaney The performance was created for the KoresponDance festival.

Dance in Gallery: The motion-visual installation Secret Journey of the established instigator, director and movement-explorer Yoshiko Chuma was connected to exhibition Ai Wei-Wei. Law of the Journey and through movement it brought a new perspective and new experience of perceiving a conceptual work. Eighty performers, five professionals and seventy-five participants representing the public will through movement expression mediate and deepen the message of one of the most influential contemporary artists.
