In 2010 the four partners SE.S.TA (Prague), AST (Bratislava), Le Colombier (Bagnolet) and steptext dance project (Bremen) initiated the cooperative project KoresponDance Europe. The programme gives impulses for exchange, reflexions and a debate about aesthetics. Young choreographers and dancers with less than ten years experiences are given the opportunity to enhance their choreographic language within different formats of qualification and presentation, supported by a mentor.
From January 6 to 15, 2011 KoresponDance Europe offers a residency at the Schwankhalle Bremen. A choreographer and his team can work on a project for ten days, supported by the Austrian choreographer Helge Letonja. At the end the participants are invited to present their work to the public.
KoresponDance Europe cannot cover the residency fee and other expenses for the company.
Helge Letonja studied classical ballet at the HfMDK Frankfurt/Main and the Amsterdamse Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten as well as contemporary dance under Erick Hawkins and Alvin Ailey in New York. He danced with classical companies such as Ballett Oper Graz, with Susanne Linke/Urs Dietrich (Bremen), Jan Fabre (Belgium), as well as for the French-Canadian musical „Notre Dame de Paris“ and Montreal Danse (Canada). In 1996 he established the independent „steptext dance company“ in Bremen. His numerous choreographies were presented outside of Europe at festivals in the US, Canada, Israel, and South America and have received international awards.
