Wed 9 Oct 2024, 10 am–2.30 pm | Trade Fair Palace, National Gallery Prague
In this workshop, designed for visual artists and curators, led by renowned choreographer Alice Chauchat (FR/DE), you will explore how choreographic thinking can enhance curatorial practices. Drawing from her latest work, Museography Choreography reflecting the NGP’s exhibition 1939–2021: The End of the Black-and-White Era, Chauchat invites visual artists and curators to consider how bodies, like artworks and exhibitions, create meaning resisting simplifying categorisation through relational dynamics.
– Actualising collections of artworks, movements and experiences
– Sensitising to differences and similarity
– Noticing relations through and outside categories
– Transcending categories
– Exploring linear and radial temporalities
Actualising collections of artworks, movements and experiences
Participants will work with simple yet enigmatic choreographic scores, designed to condition how we respond to each other and to space. These exercises invite new ways of curating not just objects but experiences, fostering deeper connections between artworks and their presentation. The workshop also delves into the concept of “embodied archives”, where the body itself stores and revisits movements and histories, akin to the way art collections are curated and reinterpreted over time.
