Participation offers an exceptional chance to collaborate with a leading artist and experienced art coach in a workshop-style format and explore new perspectives on the interdisciplinary crossroads between contemporary dance and visual arts.
MUSEOGRAPHY CHOREOGRAPHYChoreographer Alice Chauchat (FR/DE), together with dancers Hana Polanská (CZ), Nhung Dang (CZ) and Ran Jiao (CN/CZ), complete their work on the “choreography of relationships”, staged by National Gallery Prague’s permanent exhibition 1939–2021: The End of the Black-and-White Era. In the first phase (research) and dialogue with curator Michal Novotný, the artistic team explored the internal dynamics of the exhibition’s hanging and their possible echoes in choreographic structures. In September 2024, the team will present the results of this process as a dance performance.
DANCE IN THE GALLERY PROJECTDance in the Gallery is a transdisciplinary project of the SE.S.TA Centre for Choreographic Development that explores the multi-layered connections between movement and visual art in the site-specific situation of an art museum and develops collaboration between their creators – choreographers and curators. The project also connects the audiences of both artistic disciplines. They will discover new ways of understanding visual art in its spatiotemporal, institutional and procedural context through the creative movement of the body. And in turn, they will experience contemporary dance in the revelatory site-specific context of a contemporary art exhibition.
