International choreographic residency under the guidance of internationally experienced coaches Kathy Casey (CA) and Alice Chauchat (FR/DE). Residency will take place during the original date from 19th – 27th August 2020, international coaches will work with residents through streaming. Due to an actual complicated situation in the culture sector this year the fee for residency will be reduced to 1000 CZK (50 EUR). Take the chance to develop your work in international context within the support of experienced artists.

SE.S.TA invites applications for its Artist in Residency Program 2020, offering a space for both individual and group projects in the site-specific surrounds of the baroque Castle in Žďár nad Sázavou, which is equipped with quality facilities to support re-search, the creation and the rehearsal of performance work.

Witness the culmination of unique research, in which 11 dance makers from the Czech Republic and the United States will “work through” physical, kinaesthetic and movement ideas linked to the artistic intention of individual works within the exhibition 1796-1918: ART OF THE LONG CENTURY, part of the National Gallery in Prague’s permanent collection, in real time. The work also responds to the curatorial intention of the exhibition as a whole.

The Dance Reading Club will analyze the current discourse on performative arts four times a year through readings and analyzes of theoretical texts, in dialogue with watched performances, screening of videos and films linked to specific theme. This reading practice wants to encourage the participants to develop a common base for discussion by interwoving the disciples of dance, philosophy, poetry, music and visual art. The Dance Reading Club will be led by a moderated discussion with invited guests focused on specific resarch linked to analysed topic. The first Club will follow up on the performance Assemblage by Martina Hajdyla Lacová and ME-SA.

Our discussion will be this time conceived as a prequel to the watched performance Alien Intimacy by James Batchelor and Collaborators (AU) which will take place on 5-6. 9. 2020 in Studio ALTA and will focus on the preparation of the spectator broadening the context of extended temporalities and in-betweens of Black Box and White Cube.

This reading practice wants to encourage the participants to develop a common base for discussion by interwoving the disciples of dance, philosophy, poetry, music and visual art. The Dance Reading Club is led by a moderated discussion with invited guests focused on specific resarch linked to analysed topic. The fourth Dance Reading club takes place only online and it will be about "When we learn to listen".
