Independent choreographers and dancers have much more complicated life because they need a lot of appropriate space. A musician needs only the instrument, the writer needs only the pen, but a dancer cannot work without free space and appropriate floor. The Centre for choreographic development SE.S.TA provides such space within its all-year-round residential programme.
SE.S.TA selects approximately ten projects every year which are provided for a week or individually agreed period of time the premises in the chateau Žďár nad Sázavou where they have accommodation, enough space for dancing and last but not least also many opportunities to relax.
Each year various artists come to the chateau from all around the world, not only from the Czech Republic. Besides European artists we have hosted already dancers and choreographers from Ghana and Ivory Coast.
A necessity for providing the residence is conclusive Work in Progress – presenting work to local audience – thus SE.S.TA gets back to its educational work with the audience. Sometimes the visitors can see a performance in progress, other days children of local schools participate in a workshop, as was the case with dancers and musicians from Ghana who taught the children traditional African dances.
For more detailed information please contact production department of SE.S.TA. The plan of Work in Progress in Žďár nad Sázavou can be found in Events programme and we update our Facebook page regularly.
