GENIUS RISES: STUDY TRIP TO&nbspACCRA

Unique intercontinental cooperation, the exceptional connection of Ghanaian music and dance culture and the European Baroque.

EVENT OVER
Accra
16th February – 4. March 2019

A three year research and creative project by artists from the Czech Republic, France and Ghana, GENIUS RISES places the European Baroque and traditional Ghanaian art on the same stage. Through simple elements and collective and individual searching, this fusion of music, dance, theatre, history and sociology presents the public with something both entirely new and emerging from historical roots.

Back to all events

GENIUS RISES is based on scholarly intercultural research in European and African universities and work which is distinctly international in character. Ghanaian art serves as a representative of traditional African culture, while the Czech, French and British Baroque represents European art of the 17th and 18th centuries.

For Czech artists, GENIUS RISES is a unique opportunity to take part in a large-scale international project, to collaborate on the creation of an entirely unconventional performance, to gain experience abroad and in interdisciplinary contexts and to make valuable contacts for subsequent artistic work.

The core artists and producing organisation act as guarantors for the project and its continual evolution. This includes an international tour, which will further open participation to local artists, offering the project a source of continuous enhancement, new stimuli and new stories.
