Kristián Mensa
Kristián Mensa (who works under the name Mr. Kriss) is a Czech dancer (b-boy) and illustrator. As a dancer he is known for a distinctive style that combines lightness, elegance, flexibility and acrobatics. In October 2019 in Paris he took fourth place at the prestigious Red Bull Dance Your Style competition and won recognition worldwide. He has also brought his movement into the commercial world, dancing for brands such as Louis Vuitton and Zara, and has worked with artists including Kylie Minogue, Rita Ora and Armand Amar, and with the choreographers Akram Khan and Yoann Bourgeois.
In his illustrations he works with the often overlooked poetics of the everyday, showing how inspiring the world around us can be and how important simplicity is to understanding it. He plays with words and with a wide range of subjects, most often responding metaphorically to current global events. He has held solo exhibitions in Prague, Bratislava, Frankfurt and Copenhagen and has collaborated with brands including Heinz, Pilot Pen and WWF.
He has been listed in the Huffington Post’s 20 Under 20 and in Czech Forbes’ 30 Under 30, and in 2021 he received the Silver Medal of the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic for “youthful courage and inspiration”. The director Adolf Zika made the feature-length documentary Mr. Kriss about him.
